Cock at Budworth

Written by

Traditional Country Pub

The Cock at Budworth is one of the best-known pubs in the area. Formerly a working farm, the pub is an impressive grade II listed property with rich historical value stretching back over at least 350 years.

Having just undergone a complete major refurbishment, the pub has been brought back to its former glory, including the addition of restaurant dining in the ‘old barn', which supplements the existing conservatory dining.

The Cock offers everything you might want from a traditional Cheshire country pub. In the winter months you can relax in front of one of the open fires, or in the summer months enjoy food and drinks on the patio or beer garden with children's play facilities.

Food is served from 11.30am - 10pm every day except on Sundays, when it stops serving at 9.30pm.

The Fishpool Inn

Traditional Country Pub

The Fishpool Inn in Delamere, is a cosy, characterful inn dating back to the 18th century.

Idyllically positioned on the edge of the enchanting Delamere forest and amidst the stunning Cheshire countryside, The Fishpool is one of the county’s most popular gastro inns and has recently been awarded the much sought after accolade of ‘Best New Pub’ in the UK at The Publican Awards.

The pub underwent a dramatic and sympathetic twelve month, multi-million pound renovation before re-opening in February 2013. The heart, warmth and character of the original 18th century sandstone building was retained while being sympathetically added to using many authentic and natural, reclaimed materials.

Food

The cutting edge, environmentally friendly, open fronted kitchen is a hive of creativity where passionate, talented chefs work their magic as they cook freshly prepared meals using only the finest, locally sourced ingredients. The seasonally changing menu is varied to suit all tastes and features traditional home comforts and modern British and European dishes. You an also enjoy a little taste of Italy with the Fishpool’s flavoursome flatbreads and authentic Italian style pizzas, cooked to perfection in the superior Jestic wood stone oven.

A firm favourite at the Fishpool are the home-made, hearty pies with their succulent tasty fillings wholly encased by delicious puff pastry.

Drink

The bar is a focal point at the Fishpool with eight real ale hand pumps taking pride of place, featuring quality, distinctive cask conditioned beers from many local micro-breweries. Weetwood’s Eastgate, Best Cask Bitter and Cheshire Cat take up a permanent pump each behind the bar with various guest ales featured throughout the year, which are selected according to seasonality. There is also a range of premium brand spirits including brands such as Chase, Hendricks and Brockmans, along with 16 single malts, including the more unusual such as the Japanese whisky Yamazaki. The pub also offers a selection of wines from around the world.

The Fishpool Inn is dog friendly, and welcomes canine friends through its doors.

The Hayhurst Arms

Written by

The Hayhurst Arms is our local and a classic village pub nestled in the heart of Bostock, adjacent to the village green.

Bostock is a friendly, close-knit community and the pub forms a wonderful social hub where neighbours can meet for a chat and a pint, locals can bring friends and family for a bite to eat, and where visitors will find a warm welcome.

In the colder months, you'll find log fires burning, lots of cozy corners to tuck yourself away, and a well-stocked bar right at the heart of things. When the sun shines, the pub is flooded with light, and the spacious terrace and gardens, which overlook the village green, is the perfect place for a spot of al fresco dining.

Manager Nicola Gow's passion lies in finding quality fresh ingredients and preparing, cooking and presenting them in a modern but unpretentious way. Menus have a spine of classic British dishes complemented by more exotic influences from other parts of the world. The menu is uploaded on the website each day before 12 noon 'to peruse at your leisure'.

The bar offers a whole host of cask ales and fine wines, with a large selection of whiskies and gins to suit all tastes.
